Made around 1960 and later shaped into a seasonal sequence, the photographs move through bridges, canals, old houses, storefront signs, children by the water, festival traces, rainy streets, and the shadowed calm of a castle town. Ueda’s celebrated sense of composition gives the city a theatrical stillness, while Taneichiro Kanto’s essays add local memory, texture, and atmosphere.
