<Description>
Mémoires 1995 is a deeply affecting photobook by Seiichi Furuya, published in conjunction with his 1995 solo exhibition at Fotomuseum Winterthur. Across portraits, landscapes, interiors, plants, city scenes, and refugee portraits, Furuya builds a charged visual field where personal memory meets the broader history of late twentieth-century Europe. At the center of the book is Christine Gössler, Furuya’s wife, whose presence shaped much of the artist’s life work. Her portraits are placed beside images of their son, Komyo-Klaus, impressions of East Berlin and Dresden, delicate flower photographs, and face-to-face portraits of Bosnian War refugees made in Graz.
